Family Therapy

Families are living systems—when one part of the system is struggling, everyone feels the ripple effects. Family therapy offers a space to slow down together, understand one another more deeply, and find new ways of relating that feel more supportive and sustainable.

In our work together, we focus on improving communication, reducing patterns of conflict, and strengthening the emotional bonds that help families feel more connected and resilient.

Sometimes the families I work with include parents and younger children navigating developmental or behavioral challenges. Other times, the work involves adult children and their parents who want to repair, redefine, or deepen their relationship. Each stage of family life brings its own complexities, and therapy can offer a place to approach those challenges with care and curiosity.

My role is to create a thoughtful and respectful environment where each person’s voice can be heard and where families can begin to move toward greater understanding, compassion, and connection.

Families often seek therapy when they are navigating:

  • Ongoing conflict or communication breakdowns

  • Behavioral challenges

  • Developmental transitions

  • Life changes such as divorce, remarriage, or blended families

  • The emotional impact of anxiety, depression, or other mental health concerns within the family

  • Stress related to school, social pressures, or family expectations

  • Difficult conversations that feel hard to navigate on your own

  • Healing ruptures and forgiveness

Family therapy can help members better understand each other’s experiences, develop healthier communication patterns, and create new ways of responding when tension arises. As insight grows, many families find that empathy and flexibility begin to replace reactivity and misunderstanding.

In sessions, we work collaboratively to identify the dynamics that may be keeping the family stuck while strengthening skills for listening, expressing needs, and repairing moments of conflict.

From my Chicago-based practice, I offer family therapy both in person and through secure telehealth throughout Illinois. Whether your family is navigating a specific challenge or simply seeking greater understanding and connection, therapy can provide a steady and supportive place to begin that work.
