Perimenopause/Menopause
Perimenopause and menopause are not simply hormonal events — they are profound psychological and relational transitions. Many women find themselves feeling unlike themselves: more anxious, more irritable, more tearful, less resilient. Sleep changes. Focus shifts. Relationships feel strained. A quiet question sometimes emerges: Who am I becoming in this next chapter?
These changes are real. They are biological. And they are deeply personal.
In therapy, we create space to explore the emotional and identity shifts that often accompany this life stage. Rather than minimizing symptoms or pushing through them, we slow down and listen to what your mind and body may be signaling. This is a season that calls for attunement, not self-criticism.
Our work may include:
- Mindfulness practices that help you stay grounded amidst emotional intensity
Self-compassion to soften the harsh inner voice that often grows louder during times of change
Self Leadership approaches that help you understand and care for the different “parts” of you that feel overwhelmed, resentful, grieving, or uncertain
Emotional regulation and nervous system support through experiential, body-aware interventions
Processing identity shifts related to aging, partnership, sexuality, parenting, career, and purpose
This is not surface-level stress management. It is deeper, integrative work that honors the complexity of midlife transition. Many women discover that while this phase can feel destabilizing, it can also become a powerful turning point — a movement toward clearer boundaries, renewed self-trust, and a more authentic way of living.
From my Chicago-based practice, I offer perimenopause and menopause therapy in person and via secure telehealth throughout Illinois. If you are navigating mood shifts, anxiety, grief, or an evolving sense of self during this transition, you do not have to do it alone. Therapy can provide steadiness, clarity, and meaningful support during this deeply transformative time.
